We Are All Natural Beef
Snow Creek Ranch is not organic. We think organic produce is great! But we don’t believe it’s the best way to bring you the tastiest beef available. For one thing, organic certification is expensive, and we’d have to pass some of that expense along to our customers.
Better for the Cows
USDA regulations for terms like “organic” come with some potentially inhumane restrictions and requirements. If an animal gets an infected cut in the pasture, to keep the herd “organic” we would have to remove the cow from the herd, which is stressful for them. Our goal is to have happy, healthy cattle, because a happy cow creates a delicious steak.
Pasture Raised
We strive to make our cows as happy and healthy as possible, and healthy cattle roam. Ours have access to plenty of fresh water and lots of healthy, native grasses. Much of the ranch has been reverted to indigenous prairie grasses that are delicious and nutritious to the cows, and are part of our rotational grazing program. That helps to maintain a healthy ecosystem that mimics the way the cows would live “in the wild.”
